What is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a racket sport played between two opposing sides (2-4 players). The aim of the game is to hit the ball over the net in a way that causes the other side to fault. The court is the same size as a badminton court (20’ x 44’) which is roughly half the size of a tennis court. The net is slightly shorter than a tennis net at 36”.
The game begins when a player serves the ball to the opposing side. When serving, one foot must be kept behind the back line and the ball must be struck with an underhand swing, aiming at the service court located diagonally over the net and clearing the ‘no-volley zone’. Only one fault is allowed.
Following the serve, both sides must make at least one ground-stroke prior to volleying the ball. A player or team scores points only when they are serving. A pickleball game is played to 11 points and must be won with a lead of 2 points.
